About me

I'm a neurodiverse British-Polish writer, currently based between London and LA. I grew up in the North of England but spent my childhood vacationing in communist Warsaw where I honed my impressive queuing skills. My scripts are about intelligent, difficult (and probably neurodiverse) women fighting to live fully-realised lives.

My play Intelligence about the computer pioneer Ada Lovelace and the gender bias encoded in AI won the 2023 Women’s Prize for Playwriting and is currently in development with Paines Plough and Ellie Keel Productions.

My TV pilot, Vindication, which charts the early life of the original badass feminist Mary Wollstonecraft placed as a semifinalist at the 2024 Austin Film Festival.

As a playwright, my work has been supported and developed by The National Theatre Studio, Royal Shakespeare Company, The Orange Tree, Sphinx, Arts Council England, The Peggy Ramsay Foundation, The Orchard Project, The Studios Key West and OffWestEnd.com. My other plays include S-27 (Winner iceandfiire/Amnesty Interational Protect the Human Playwriting Competition) and Waiting for Romeo (Winner Best Play (Small Venue), Ekin Yazin Dostları Theatre Awards).

As audio writer, I regularly write episodes of Dr Who for Big Finish where I specialise in stories featuring alien invasions in historical settings and robots, and sometimes both.

As an emerging screenwriter, I trained on courses at NFTS and UCLA TFT. Accolades to date include semifinal/shortlist placements for the Writers’ Lab US, Respectability Lab, Studio21 Drama Series Script Competition and ITV Disabled Writers’ Scheme. I placed in the top 3% for BBC Writersroom Open Call 2024.

I like to reflect on my craft as writer. My books on playwriting and contemporary theatre include The Contemporary Political Play and The Theatre of Rupert Goold. I'm currently Senior Lecturer in Writing for Theatre at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where I lead the MA/MFA Writing for Stage and Broadcast Media.

Currently seeking both UK and US representation.
