RED SHOES

First produced by Agent 160 at Chapter Arts, Cardiff (2012)

“I’m all alone, right, but I feel there’s like this presence. Cos I’m all alone, except for the shoes. I turn and I see them. And they’re smiling a red smile. Smiling a red smile right at me.”

In the middle of the London riots, a young teenage mum seizes the chance to steal the shoes of her dreams. But on this mad, dizzying night when everything is free for the taking, the price tags are higher than ever.

A short play about desire.

'an astonishingly direct yet poetic piece of writing, a perfect miniature'  Lyn Gardner, The Guardian
